Seth Godin is one of my personal favorite writers when it comes to business and entrepreneurial writing. His blog (http://sethgodin.typepad.com/) showcases examples of how being the squeaky wheel can make you stand out on the Internet, where everything is about how much you are willing to spend to get noticed.

The goal of this site is to help 1 million small businesses and entrepreneurs online without taking away from their hard earned profits, so rather than charge a few businesses a huge fee, I charge everyone a dollar a month and promote everyone equally.
