Whether you are trying to save the environment, save a tree or save your money, it’s all paper. The retail price of books seems to be out of control with more and more bestsellers only available in hard cover and with the added competition from digital book readers from Amazon and Barnes & Nobles.
I found a simple and satisfying way to purchase the books that I want and not feel bad about paying a retail price for them. I buy used and damaged books from Amazon and BetterWorldBooks. These books are normally brand new with slight marks and/or damaged covers. Although BetterWorldBooks can also be found on Amazon, the shipping rates are the same and the condition of the books is more accurate through their own site, from my experience.
If you are interested in searching for used books on Amazon, simply find the book that you are interested in and click on the link below the price that states how many are available in used and new condition. This will display every store that sells the book and what their cost, condition and shipping rates are. Don’t be fooled by Amazon, the “Super Saver” shipping is not always the cheapest way to buy.
